Job Description
The Director for Student Services reports to the Assistant Dean of Student Affairs and Admissions and is responsible for providing support to veterinary students enrolled in the DVM professional program at the Virginia Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine with the goal of increasing retention, supporting academic success, and championing the overall student experience. The Director will maintain a student-centered approach to empowering students while helping them navigate their academic and co-curricular experiences at the college. Interfacing with students is central to the success of the Director.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree, plus 4 or more years of relevant experience.
• Previous experience working in a higher education setting.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Previous experience in working with and advising college students.
• Ability to work independently and self-motivated in completing tasks.
• Experience in evidence-based approaches to new initiatives or projects
Preferred Qualifications
• Master’s degree in education, plus 2 or more years of relevant experience.
• Previous experience in assessing teamwork and providing mediation of poorly functioning teams.
