Chief Development Officer (CDO) of Fu Jen University Foundation (FJUF) 

We seek an experienced CDO with excellent leadership skills, networking abilities, and prior fundraising experience. Fu Jen is a Catholic University in New Taipei City, Taiwan. The Fu Jen Foundation is a US based fundraising foundation that supports the university. The CDO will be primarily responsible for building good relationships with and soliciting funds from prospective donors and clients across multiple sectors. The CDO reports to the FJUF Board and  is the primary liaison between the Board members and the donors.  

The CDO will assist the Chairperson and President of the Board in managing the Board's  functions and also attend to the corporation's day-to-day operations. With the focus of the  Centennial Campaign on building an endowment for academic excellence, FJUF has set an  annual goal of US$5 million or above. Therefore, identifying and engaging additional donor bases is a priority. The CDO is  expected to broaden the cultivation of relationships with FJCU alums and increase engagement with nonprofit foundations in the US and worldwide. 

 

Position Responsibilities

    Develop and execute fundraising plans that utilize best practices in major giving,  including identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding major donors. 

    Work closely with the Board, and communicate regularly on an annual operating  plan with accountable monthly or quarterly monetary and activity goals. 

    Conduct research on fundraising opportunities in corporate and nonprofit  organizations and donors outside the current alum circle. 

    Maintain a dynamic portfolio of high net-worth individuals, prioritize corporate and major US Foundation prospects, secure major and campaign gifts, and perform to or exceed agreed-upon metrics. 

    Assist FJU College Deans and Department Chairs in developing program funding  priorities and related cases for donor support. 

    Contact FJU alumni associations and nurture relations with alums, volunteers, and donors worldwide. 

    Oversee wire transfers and financial management of FJUF assets.

 

Qualifications and Requirements

    Excellent written, verbal, and telephonic communication skills in English and Chinese. Bicultural understanding of the US and Taiwan is important.

    Bachelor's degree from a Taiwan or other Chinese medium university is required. An alum from Fu Jen University is preferred. 

    United States residency is required. California residency is preferred. 

    10+ years of professional fundraising experience with a background in planned giving, endowments, and capital campaigns is preferred. 

    Previous 10+ years of professional experience in higher education, sales, or marketing with the willingness and capability to learn and engage in philanthropy  and fundraising is also acceptable. 

    Sound knowledge of the charity sector, including major US foundations 

    Exemplary personal ethic and interpersonal skills with the ability to be organized,  thorough, logical, factual, and self-motivated. 

 

Compensation 

Position is outsourced as an independent contractor. Yearly remuneration will be based on experience and qualifications.  

$125,000 - $135,000

 

Work Schedule and Location 

It is a remote position with work in the US and Taiwan time zones. Must be available to work in flexible times of day as needed. Occasional travel between place of residence and Taiwan, California, New York and other areas of the U.S. is required.
