  • This position is for 11 months, July 1st, 2023, to May 31st 2024.
  • This position is a hybrid position which allows the incumbent to complete their work at both an NAU site, campus, or facility and at a non-centralized site with or without accommodation.
  • This position is subject to the availability of funding. The incumbent is not eligible for Service Professional non-renewal notice, or Classified Staff layoff or recall status.

 


Job Description

The College of Education and Elevate-Pre-K (EPK) are seeking a part-time temporary Data Collector (DC) to support the testing of a preschool program for children of families earning 101%-250% of Federal Poverty Level living in Page, AZ. EPK is a public preschool program that uses High Scope (HS) and Promoting Alternative Thinking Skills (PATHS) with coaching to target core cognitive, social, and self-regulation skills underlying young children's academic achievement and educational success. Our team will collect data from teachers, parents/guardians, and children enrolled in the program in Page, AZ at three time points across the year (fall, winter, spring).

This position is for 11 months, July 1st, 2023, to May 31st 2024. The hired employee will work a total of 135 hours across this period. The time commitment on a weekly and monthly basis will vary based on specific tasks and project deliverables, ranging anywhere from 10 hours per month to 40 hours per month. The DC will report to directly to the Project Coordinator (PC), who is a direct report to the principal investigator (PI).

Data Collection - 80%

 

 

 

  • Administer direct child assessments.
  • Facilitate and conduct family interviews and focus groups.
  • Conduct classroom observations at the preschool site.


Data Processing - 10%

 

 

  • Provide support with light data processing assistance.
  • Assist with some data tracking and coordination.


Administrative Support - 5%

 

 

  • Attend meetings via Zoom.
  • Complete in-person and online trainings.


Other - 5%

 

 

  • Other duties as assigned.

 


Minimum Qualifications

 

 

 

  • Bachelor's degree in education or a social science (e.g., social work, psychology).
  • Experience working with children ages 3 to 5 in the Page, AZ area.
  • Must live within a 20-mile radius of Page, AZ (reimbursement for travel will not be provided).
  • Access to transportation and reliable internet.

  • Facilitating focus groups experience.
  • Survey data collection experience.
  • Research experience.

Background Information

This position has been identified as a safety/security sensitive position. Therefore, per AZ Revised Statute, Northern Arizona University requires satisfactory results for the following: a criminal background investigation, employment history investigation, degree verification (in some cases) and fingerprinting. Finally, each year Northern Arizona University releases an Annual Security Report. The report is a result of a federal law known as the Clery Act. The report includes Clery reportable crime statistics for the three most recent completed calendar years and discloses procedures, practices and programs NAU uses to keep students and employees safe including how to report crimes or other emergencies occurring on campus. In addition, the Fire Safety Report is combined with the Annual Security Report for the NAU Flagstaff Mountain Campus as this campus has on-campus student housing. This report discloses fire safety policies and procedures related to on-campus student housing and statistics for fires that occurred in those facilities. Salary

Hourly salary range is $15 - $20. Salary dependent upon candidate's qualifications and related experience.

FLSA Status

This position is non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). The incumbent is eligible for overtime pay or compensatory time according to University policy. Further, the employee must submit timesheets that accurately reflect all hours worked.
