University Enterprises Corporation at CSUSB ("UEC") supports the university's educational mission by providing quality services that complement the instructional program. The University depends upon UEC to provide services that cannot be supported with state funds. We're responsible for business enterprises on campus including, but not limited to, dining, bookstore, convenience store, and vending services. We also serve as the grantee for federal, state, and local funding for research and sponsored projects.

Position Summary

Temporary, part time, non-benefited position through 6/30/2023 (Appointment may be renewed annually based upon availability of funds, availability of work and satisfactory job performance).

Salary: $28 per hour.

Location: San Bernardino, CA

Work Schedule

4 hours per week. Schedule to be arranged according to your schedule. For a regular in-person group course that meets once per week, approximately 4 hours per week (i.e., 2 hr. class, ½ before class for set-up, ½ hr. after class for take-down and debriefing children's staff; 1 hr. per week of class prep time)

First Review Deadline

This position will remain open until filled. Applications will be reviewed beginning 11/7/22.

Typical Activities

Provide parent education courses for parents/caregivers in an in-person group format or online. Duties include facilitating 9-session parenting courses. Parent educators may also be asked to do “one-time” presentations on various parenting topics in the local area.

Parent educators will also be expected to complete necessary paperwork and facilitate after-class debriefing sessions with children's program staff as needed. Parent educators must follow a fully developed parent education model (and will be trained to use this model before leading groups).

Minimum Qualifications

Education: A minimum of a master's degree in child development, early childhood education, clinical counseling, social work, school counseling, school psychology or a related field (or concurrent enrollment in a master's program)

Experience: A strong background in developmentally-appropriate practice (DAP) with children (i.e., positive child guidance)

Other:

• Knowledge of child development
• Knowledge of attachment science
• Experience working with children
• Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills

Preferred Qualifications

Undergraduate major in child development, human development, or related field

Experience in child/family intervention

Since some groups of parents/caregivers will be Spanish-speaking, persons who are bilingual in both English and Spanish (and who have excellent oral, reading, and written bilingual skills) are strongly encouraged to apply.
