Job Description
Essential Job Function:
The Technology Support Specialist ( TSS ) provides critical support to the Enrollment Services team, which comprises the Registrar, Financial Aid, Student Accounts and OneCard offices. The TSS is responsible for providing complex technical assistance and support of Ellucian Colleague, CSGold, Slate, Entrinsik Informer and all external platforms that are integrated with our SIS . The TSS serves as an advanced user and the primary liaison with Information Technology (IT) to resolve technical issues and must demonstrate excellent analytic, problem solving, and communications skills with the ability to work with diverse constituencies at various levels of technical knowledge.
Duties & Responsibilities
Systems Support responsibilities:
- Interact with the Enrollment Services team for ad-hoc reporting and training; maintains computed fields as well as developing scripts for the end-users.
- Functions as the primary liaison with IT regarding departmental use of the Colleague module(s); provides advanced user support to Enrollment Services.
- Familiarity with IT oversight to assure compliance with information security practices, data classification and usage policy as it pertains to internal and external databases.
- Performs technical administrative duties; back end support for modifications to the SIS for compliance with regulations.
- Responds to various inquiries and correspondence; prepares information and data requested for administrative review; prepares reports, files, and other documents.
- Interact with departmental external vendors to support acquired complex computer application systems, providing for the definition and resolution of technical and procedural problems, and IT oversight and approval in accordance with university processes of the applications and systems.
- Daily review and processing of electronic photo submissions, printing of ID cards and assigning building access.
- Provides training as needed for the ES team.
- Maintains and orders ID Card supplies.
- Triage issues with Campus Safety, Residence Life, Human Resources, Dining Services, Student Accounts and Information Technology.
- Initiate and help coordinate complex, Colleague related system projects.
- Communicate with technical and non-technical users.
- Prioritize work while maintaining a high level of customer service.
- Perform a variety of technical systems analysis and testing.
- Experience with Entrinsik Informer preferred.
- Knowledge of the relational database model, database concepts, query and data extraction tools, i.e. Uniquery, SQL, Unidata
- Utilize organizational skills and initiative to streamline processes.
- Provide a working knowledge of design, development and implementation of an integrated management information system, system applications and limitations, and other related areas.
- Troubleshoot, analyze, and resolve student and administrative disputes.
- Attends meetings, conferences, and workshops to stay current with industry practices.
- During peak registration periods, start-of-term and open house, extended hours are required.
- The University Registrar may assign additional duties as needed.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Two years of experience using Colleague. Preferably
in Student Accounts, Financial Aid, or Registrar.
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or an Associates Degree in Computer Science/Programming with at least two years of programming or systems development experience.
