Position Summary:

Under the general supervision of the Head Women’s Volleyball Coach, the Assistant Volleyball Coach will serve as a member of the Department of Athletics and be responsible for contributing to all aspects relating to a positive and beneficial intercollegiate athletics experience for student-athletes.

Job Description:

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution;  

  • Successful experience in coaching women's volleyball as a Head Coach or Assistant Coach at the collegiate level or as a Head Coach at the High School level;  

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills;  

  • A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities.   

Preferred Qualifications
  • A sound knowledge of film exchange video  systems ;  

  • Experience in creating detailed scouting reports;  

  • Successful recruiting experience at NCAA level;  

  • Demonstrated leadership abilities.    

Major Responsibilities

The Assistant Volleyball Coach at Fort Lewis College, a NCAA Division II institution in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, is responsible for assisting the Head Women’s Volleyball Coach in all aspects of an athletically competitive women's volleyball program, including, but not limited to:   
  • Assist in organizing and conducting all skill instruction, practice, scheduling of games,  competition and training schedules;    

  • Effectively manage relationships with student-athletes, coaches and the broader campus community;    

  • Assist in recruitment and evaluation of prospective student-athletes;    

  • Provide appropriate leadership in practice and competitive environments;    

  • Help ensure a quality student-athlete experience through community engagement, campus involvement and competitive achievement;    

  • Monitor academic and disciplinary standing of student-athletes;    

  • Establish positive relationships with support staff;    

  • Assist in the scheduling and organizing of volleyball camps and clinics;    

  • Prepare and manage all aspects of team travel, such as hotels, transportation, food;   

  • Manage volleyball team’s social media platforms;  

  • Participate in designated conference and NCAA meetings, and represent the volleyball program at specific college, department, alumni, media and community events;   

  • Maintains knowledge and awareness of digital accessibility including the American with Disabilities Act and Section 508.  

  • Produces and remediates digitally accessible materials in accordance with FLC standards.  

  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • Typical Work hours are Monday through Friday 8:00 am-5:00 pm
Compensation

T he salary range is $20,000, plus a comprehensive benefits package .
