Tenure Track Assistant/Associate Professor of Religion

The University of North Carolina at Pembroke is seeking to make an appointment at the Assistant or Associate Professor level in Religious Studies in either the Fall 2023 or Spring 2024 semesters.  The most important qualification is excellence in teaching, especially the ability to relate to the student population who are primarily first-generation college students and /or from lower socio-economic backgrounds. The position will be open until filled.

Area of Specialization: Open excluding Biblical Studies, Judaism, and Islam. Area of Concentration: Same.

Minimum Training and Experience Requirements:  Ph.D. in Religious Studies required. Familiarity with Native American Religion a plus. The ideal candidate will be a generalist who will primarily teach introductory courses in religion and be capable of teaching Theories and Methods in Religion and/or other survey courses in religion such as, for example, Asian Religions, Indigenous Religions, or Western Religious Thought.

Management Preference: Minimum of three years teaching experience preferred.
