Job Summary
This position is located at Auburn University’s Solon Dixon Forestry Education Center in Andalusia, Alabama.
The Solon Dixon Forestry Education Center ( SDFEC )seeks candidates for a Cook position, responsible for food preparation and services for groups at the Solon Dixon Forestry Education Center.
The SDFEC provides traditional classroom and immersive outdoor field experiences for people learning about forestry, wildlife, and natural resources management. The SDFEC functions as a living laboratory for hands-on, experiential learning for students, practitioners, and land owners who come to the facility to explore its diverse ecosystems and learn best practices from leaders in their field.

Essential Functions
1. Sets up kitchen for meal preparation and cook designated meal.
2. Keeps kitchen and equipment used in meal preparation cleaned properly.
3. Delivers food and beverages to other areas of the facility.
4. Serves meals and beverages to customers.
5. Utilizes proper storage and handling procedures on all food and supplies.
6. Places food and supply orders with vendors and checks invoices and inventories all food and supplies.
7. Purchases food and supply items that are not made available from vendors from local stores.
Other duties may be assigned similar to the above consistent with the knowledge, skills and abilities required for the job.
May be responsible for training, assisting or assigning tasks to others. May provide input to performance reviews of other employees.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Level I Ability to read and write.
Level II Ability to read and write plus 2 years experience in food services including cooking for large groups
Substitutions allowed for Experience:
When a candidate has the required education, but lacks the required experience, they may normally apply additional appropriate education toward the experience requirement, at a rate of one (1) year relevant education per year of required experience.
