Job Summary

Reporting to the Manager of Impact Initiatives, the Student Success Specialist will provide technical and operational assistance in the design, development, management, and continual support for advising interventions and services that will improve student retention and success. The Student Success Specialist will support our holistic, frequent, and proactive caseload advising model.
The Student Support Specialist will provide assistance that improves structure, outreach modes and frequency, standard policies and practice, training tools, and data use and tracking. The Specialist will help to set advising, counseling, and coaching standards and expectations, advocate for program needs, assess effectiveness of different strategies, and use data to monitor advising progress to equitable outcomes.

Position initially located at the Warwick campus, may include up to 2 days remote.

Duties and Responsibilities

· Demonstrate a commitment to the philosophy and mission of a comprehensive community college
· Work collaboratively in a diverse, inclusive and student-centered environment, with students of various learning styles, cultures, identities, and life-experiences
· Work collaboratively with others and provide quality customer service in a diverse and inclusive environment
Advising-related Technologies
· Collaborate with Manager of Impact Initiatives (or similar) to provide independent and/or group technical support for staff that maximizes utilization of software and technology
· Design and maintain advising-related webpages
Use of Data to Improve Programming
· Support advising data tracking that allows staff to easily record, share, and analyze student engagement data and metrics relevant to program goals
· Support the use of data and predictive modeling to build targeted outreach strategies
· Use data to monitor staff progress and provide feedback and support
· Provide staff with easy access to information that helps personalize student support
Staff Training and Development
· Incorporate higher education and community college best practices into the vision, strategy and practices
· Help define levels of student need and engagement to help staff triage their efforts
· Help develop advising topics to be covered, and rules on how to take and store advising meeting information
· Develop and maintain advising training and cross-functional collaboration among departments interacting with students
· Develop training that encompasses policies and procedures that cover common student services such as financial aid, enrollment services, and information technology
Support Staff Outreach
· Develop student group activities that complement or partially replace one-on-one advising meetings
· Develop and execute virtual and on-campus touch points and communication plans
Direct Student Support
· As needed, coordinate and conduct outreach strategies that include phone calls, mailing, emailing, texting, web resources and other forms
· As needed, assist students with financial aid appeal package completion; review documentation, make appeal decision and complete decision documentation. Establish and monitor educational plan for students with approved appeals
· As needed, develop semester course selection prescribed by degree and transfer evaluations
· As needed, assist students, individually or in groups, with College Scheduler class registration
· As needed, provide students with an introduction to support services (e.g., tutoring), technologies (e.g., Starfish), and required actions (i.e., VOE ) to support self-service behavior and success
· Other duties as required

Minimum Requirements

· Bachelor’s degree;
· Demonstrated experience using multiple educational technologies such as video conferencing (e.g., WebEx), online teaching and learning solutions (e.g., Blackboard Learn), student success platforms (e.g., EAB Starfish), text messaging platforms (e.g., Signal Vine), enterprise resource planning ( ERP ) systems (e.g., Ellucian Banner), and degree audit solutions (e.g., Degree Works);
· Demonstrated experience with data analysis, data reporting, data interpretation and communication;
· Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Excel (e.g., filtering, pivot tables, and other basic functions);
· Demonstrated ability to create and present professional development/training resources.

Competencies and Desired Qualifications

The most suitably qualified candidate will possess the following:
· Demonstrated strong written and verbal skills, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills;
· Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision;
· Must be able to maintain the strictest confidentiality of information;
· Demonstrated experience with caseload management.
