Job Summary:

The Administrator of Employee Relations conducts and assists in complex investigations to mitigate risk by ensuring compliance with EEO Policies and all Federal, State, and local employment regulations. Responsibilities include managing and administering a broad range of tasks including resolving complaints and counseling/training managers and employees on the interpretation of policies and procedures. Provides employee relations support with particular emphasis on the performance management process. Serves as the Coordinator for Titles VI, VII, IX and supports compliance activities associated with these Titles, as well as other areas as needed.

Job Duties:

Oversees employee relations issues including performance, attendance, grievances, and workplace environment issues. These include the interpretation of various laws/regulations (FMLA, ADA, EEOC etc.); allegations of harassment and discrimination; review of letters or contracts as needed; collaborating with the Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR) Office of General Counsel as appropriate. Keeps abreast of current personnel principles and practices, laws, regulations, literature, and provides procedural information to departments regarding general rules and policies. Identifies, analyzes, and provides effective conflict resolution practices in partnership with the Vice President for Human Resources which may include complex employee relations issues with potential legal ramifications and mediations. Initiates and conducts timely investigations and prepares documentation. Interviews employees to gather information to facilitate resolution of employee relations concerns and issues. Works with supervisors to administer the disciplinary/corrective action process as appropriate. Ensures that grievance and disciplinary proceedings are carried out in conjunction with College policies. Reviews liability reports and monitors program costs; recommends policy changes to the Vice President for Human Resources. Tracks and analyzes case trends, recommending strategies to increase workplace productivity and build retention. Conducts research and benchmarking; assists in developing new policies or amending existing policies; and responsible for updating the employee handbook and other published communications as needed. Develops and conducts relevant trainings for employees and supervisors. Tracks mandatory training activities associated with Titles VI, VII, and IX for both new hires and existing employees from launch through completion. Manages and administers the six-month performance evaluation process and annual performance evaluation processes for faculty and staff. Responds to unemployment claims and represents the College in related proceedings. Responds to surveys initiated by the Tennessee Board of Regents and other internal and external sources. Responds to requests for records made under the Freedom of Information Act. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree.
Three (3) years of related experience.
Ability to obtain and maintain Certified Title IX Investigator credential.

Preferred Qualifications:

Current Certified Title IX Investigator credential.
SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) or related credential.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Extensive knowledge of applicable state and federal employment and labor laws and governmental compliance requirements.
Must present a confident, professional demeanor.
Must be able to discern meaning of a wide variety of complex policies and procedures.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion.
Ability to influence, communicate, and build relationships at all levels.
Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with a diverse faculty, staff, and student population.
Excellent writing skills; strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to conceptualize and think strategically.
Knowledge of conflict resolution and mediation techniques.
Professional management of confidentiality.
Solid Human Resource Generalist background.
Proficiency of Microsoft Office, experience with Banner or Oracle-based system.

Pay Rate: $48,370 - $72,550 annual salary depending on experience
