Faculty Position - Criminal Justice
Position Description:
The College of Arts & Sciences seeks applications for a full-time faculty member to lead a new undergraduate Criminal Justice major, and to teach a variety of courses in the major. The mission of the Criminal Justice program, which is housed in the Sociology department, is to equip students to address the social problem of crime from a Christian perspective, across various criminal justice professions and in non-profit and community settings. The program will draw students who have interest in a wide array of vocations, such as correctional and probation officers, law enforcement personnel, customs and border protection officers, and social and human service professionals.
Vanguard seeks professionals of Christian faith who are committed to integration of faith and learning in their respective fields. The applicants must have demonstrated teaching ability and a commitment to working with and encouraging diversity. This position begins fall 2023. Vanguard University offers both tenure track and term faculty contracts; the type of contract offered will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications at the time of hire.
Essential Functions:
- Act as the lead faculty member for the Criminal Justice major.
- Teach undergraduate courses in and related to Criminal Justice.
- Develop courses for the new major.
- Recruit adjunct faculty to teach in the program.
- Participate in general faculty roles including advising and committee service.
- Collaborate with department faculty regarding curriculum implementation, student retention and support, and continuous program improvement.
- Perform other related duties as assigned
- A Doctorate in a Social Science discipline is preferred.
- Successful undergraduate teaching experience.
- Commitment to thoughtfully integrating culturally diverse perspectives and fostering an inclusive environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to collaborate
- A vibrant Christian faith, and commitment to an academically rigorous integration of faith and learning.
Assistant Professor: $58,242 to $78,336
Associate Professor: $67,932 to $91,494
Professor: $78,846 to $109,548
Placement at appropriate rank (e.g., Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor) and initial salary is dependent upon education, experience, and based on Vanguard's faculty compensation schedule. The upper range is reserved for candidates that demonstrate the highest level of proficiency within a particular rank. Vanguard University also offers a very competitive and generous benefits package.
