Advance your research and reshape nursing science in the heart of Detroit
The Wayne State University College of Nursing invites leading nurse scholars to apply for open faculty positions. By joining the college’s talented faculty, successful applicants will have the opportunity to expand their research expertise while making meaningful contributions to our mission by addressing health disparities and the health care needs of urban populations.

The College of Nursing offers a supportive, collegial and interdisciplinary environment in a one-of-a-kind setting for you to expand your program of research. Located in Midtown Detroit, our college enjoys strong, long-standing clinical and research partnerships with world-class health institutions in our backyard, along with countless clinics and community health centers in and around our city.

Successful candidates for these full-time, tenured faculty positions should have a distinguished record of scholarly nursing research and publication. Highly qualified candidates may be considered for the Faville Endowed Professorship, which will provide supplemental support for the scholarly activities of the recipient.

Successful candidates should expect to:

  • Conduct research in areas of interest consistent with the foci of the college: health disparities, stress and health, health promotion/illness prevention, self-management of chronic conditions.
  • Maintain a record of scholarly publication in nationally recognized journals.
  • Mentor PhD students. Prepare, teach and evaluate assigned courses.
  • Participate in college and university committees.

How to apply:

  • Interested candidates can apply directly through Wayne State University’s jobs website or visit go.wayne.edu/nursingprofessors. If you would like more information or have any questions, please contact Faculty Search Committee Chair Rosalind Peters, PhD, MSN, RN, FAAN, at rpeters@wayne.edu.
