Academic Professional Track (Non-Tenure): Instructional Assistant/Associate Professor

Position Description:
The School of Public Health at Texas A&M University invites applications for a full‐time, non-tenure track, Instructional Assistant/Associate Professor for the Department of Health Policy and Management. The successful candidate will work with multidisciplinary and academic teams to teach graduate and undergraduate courses in health administration, health policy, and/or other areas of public health or health care management; provide mentoring for Master of Health Administration and Master of Public Health students; and contribute positively to the department and the community of scholars. Faculty on the instructional track typically teach seven courses per academic year, with their time allocated primarily to teaching (90%) and service activities (10%). This 9-month appointment would start no later than January 1, 2024. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled. About the Department of Health Policy and Management
The department has 10 tenured and tenure track faculty members, 7 academic professional track (non-tenure track) faculty, and 2 staff members, and is home to more than 150 graduate students. It offers a traditional MPH degree with a concentration in Health Policy & Management, and a PhD in Health Services Research. The department also houses a CAHME-accredited MHA degree program that is well-ranked by U.S. News and World Report. The MHA program has a resident track for students in College Station and an executive track. Additionally, department faculty teach in the School’s Bachelor of Science in Public Health generalist degree program, which has more than 2,300 majors.
The Department of Health Policy & Management has a commitment to scholarly inquiry in a broad spectrum of areas. Research, scholarship and creative activities in the department represent a wide array of disciplines, expertise, and interests. Department members come from backgrounds in public health, political science, nursing, urban planning, law, management, medicine, economics, and data science. Collectively, they have conducted numerous policy or management-related projects that include assessments of local health care infrastructures, the quality of health care services, critical access hospitals, long-term care policies, Medicaid, managed care, chronic disease burden, and court mandated access.

Located in College Station, TX on the flagship campus of the Texas A&M University System, the CEPH-accredited School of Public Health (SPH) has over 75 faculty in four departments. The School of Public Health is the only unit among the health science center holding qualifications and membership in the Hispanic-Serving Health Professions Schools. Qualifications
Required Qualifications
Candidates must hold a doctoral degree (Ph.D., DrPH, ScD) or equivalent, with a focus in public health or a related field such as health administration, health policy, and/or other relevant areas.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience teaching relevant subjects at the post-secondary level.
- Experience working with diverse populations and fostering a collaborative, supportive, and inclusive environment.
- Experience developing courses or online materials at the post-secondary level.
- Public Health leadership experience
