The APPS Blueprint Program (Academic Purpose, Preparation and Success) supports full or part-time students who are African American and may be in need of academic support and mentorship to enroll and succeed in college.

This program was developed to support its students by (1) helping them define their academic purpose; and (2) equipping them with research-based tools and practical steps for college preparation, which are intended to pave the path to a successful CLC experience, graduation and/or transfer to a four-year college. This program provides intensive mentoring (one-on-one or small group) along with weekly sessions designed to support student success in college.

Required Qualification

-Associate’s degree or higher.
- CLC active employee or community leader.

Summary of Essential Functions

The APPS Blueprint Program seeks Volunteer Mentors who are willing to commit one year (two semesters, at minimum) to eligible African American students in the program. The Volunteer Mentor will be matched to one mentee or a small group of mentees (no more than three) and is expected to communicate with the mentee(s) at least four times each month. The Volunteer Mentor is also expected to attend a brief orientation each semester. It is expected that the Volunteer Mentor will share academic and professional support to mentees. The volunteer mentor will also provide progress reports to the African American Outreach Planning Board, as needed.

The APPS Blueprint Program seeks Volunteer Mentors who demonstrate an authentic interest in encouraging students to grow and develop their academic, career and leadership potential.
