Academic Success Fellow

Primary Purpose of Position:
The Academic Success Fellow will assist faculty in serving the NCCU Law students at all stages and levels of study to improve their academic performance, and to develop skills for law practice. This position is committed to all students getting the fullest benefit of law school,
regardless of unique needs or backgrounds.
Our Academic Success Program serves all first year students by providing them with a weekly supplemental skill-building session, feedback on their performance, and personalized advice and mentorship. Workshop series and practice exam program aim to expose students to essential academic skills, and provide opportunities to practice and self-assess their preparation for end-of-semester exams. Our Academic Success Program has a resource room full of substantive and skills-based supplemental materials, and faculty available for individual counseling appointments.

Minimum Education/Experience:
1.Juris Doctorate degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
2.English undergraduate or master’s degree or undergraduate minor.
3.Teaching or tutoring experience is preferred.
4.Two-years of experience in legal profession.
5.Demonstrated commitment to student success.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
1.Demonstrated ability to interact with students, faculty, and staff in one-on-one and in a group/classroom setting.
2.Strong time management and organizational skills; attention to detail and
3.Basic computer skills and understanding of Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, internet resources, and e-mail tools.
4.Ability to establish goals and maintain time lines.
5.Effective analytical, organizational and leadership skills.

7.Exemplary oral and written communication skills.
8.Commitment to the discipline.
9.Ability to use technology as a teaching and learning tool.
