This position supports the Houston Asian American Archive (HAAA) at the Chao Center for Asian Studies (CCAS) at Rice University in coordinating HAAA oral history interviews, supervising HAAA student interns, and liaising with archivists at the Woodson Research Center, Fondren Library. Tasks include administrative functions to maintain the quality of archival workflow. Supervised by the Associate Director of the Chao Center for Asian Studies.

This is a part-time, non-exempt position. Approximately 24 hours per week.
Essential Functions:
- Administer operations of the HAAA under supervision of Associate Director of the Chao Center for Asian Studies and the Manager of the HAAA
- Recruit, manage, and mentor interns
- Provide oral history training for students and volunteers
- Manage workflow of oral history interviews and oversee intern performance on archival tasks, including scheduling interviews, transcription, transcript review, digital publication, and creating metadata
- Manage accounts for communication and file storage (Google Drive, Box, listserv/mailing lists)
- Work with Woodson Research Center archivist to publish oral history interviews for digital publication and facilitate donations of archival materials
- Coordinate community events such as workshops and exhibitions
- Manage social media for HAAA
- Perform all other duties as assigned
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 1 year of related professional experience
- Familiarity with Asian American histories and cultures
- Ability to work well with others
- Effective and accurate verbal and written communication skills in English
- Ability to do precise, detailed work, and follow specific instructions accurately
- Ability to work independently after initial training and as part of a team to meet deadlines and maintain schedules
- Ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Good organizational and time management skills
- Spoken Chinese or other relevant languages would be helpful but is not required
- Working familiarity with an academic library setting, including archival materials
- Experience with recording, transcribing, and editing oral history transcripts
- May substitute additional related experience, above and beyond what is required, on an equivalent year-for-year basis in lieu of the education requirement.
