Supports the Joan and Stanford Alexander South Texas Jewish Archives (Alexander STJA) at Rice University by coordinating Alexander STJA oral history interviews; assisting in planning HJHA exhibits, events, and outreach, liaising with Alexander STJA student interns and archivists at the Woodson Research Center, Fondren Library. Supervised by the Curator of the Alexander STJA / Asst. Director of Jewish Studies.
Ideal candidates should have strong verbal and written communication skills, be attentive to detail, the ability to work well under pressure, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
This is a part-time, non-exempt, benefits eligible position, approximately 20 hours per week.

Essential Functions
- Administers daily operations of the Alexander STJA under general guidance of faculty and senior staff
- Communicates regularly with Curator of the Alexander STJA and staff of the Woodson Research Center
- Maintains clear program plans and notes in a shared environment
- Provides oral history training for students and volunteers, conducts oral history interviews, assists in scheduling oral history interviews and oversight of transcript review
- Serves as point person for intake of Alexander STJA archival donations and mail
- Performs all other duties as assigned
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 1 year of related professional experience (not as a student or volunteer)
- Master’s degree or higher in History, Library Sciences, or another related discipline
- 3 years research or office experience
- Demonstrated ability in working well with others
- Effective and accurate verbal and written communication skills in English
- Attention to detail
- Ability to do precise, detailed work following specific instructions accurately
- Ability to work independently after initial training and as part of a team to meet expected deadlines and schedules
- Ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Good organizational and time management skills
- Working familiarity with an academic library setting, including archival materials
- Demonstrated experience with recording, transcribing, and editing oral history transcripts
- Reading knowledge of Hebrew, Yiddish, or other relevant languages
