Randolph-Macon College invites applications for a one year full-time visiting position in Biology to begin Fall 2023 with the possibility of reappointment based on satisfactory performance and programmatic needs.
The Randolph-Macon Biology Department is a growing and research-active community of eleven tenured/tenure-track faculty with approximately 150 student majors and 30 student minors. Chemistry, Nursing, and Behavioral Neuroscience students also take many of the Biology Department’s course offerings. Biology faculty are committed to delivering inquiry-driven science education and conducting research with undergraduate students. The successful candidate will also be eligible to apply for internal research and travel grants and have access to the department’s research facilities.
Major/Essential Functions : We seek candidates who will incorporate active learning in their courses. The primary teaching responsibility is the two-course Human Anatomy and Physiology sequence. Additional courses taught may include upper-level courses in the successful candidate’s area of expertise, and courses that contribute to the general education curriculum.
Minimum Qualifications
- M.S. or Ph.D. in the biological sciences or equivalent in a related field
- Experience teaching at the undergraduate level or in health professions programs
- Experience teaching Human Anatomy and Physiology as an instructor of record at the collegiate level
- Demonstrated effectiveness in teaching, including the successful implementation of active-learning strategies to maximize student success
- Commitment to pedagogical methods that enable students across racial, ethnic, and socio-economic groups to reach their maximum potential
- Commitment to a collaborative teaching environment
- Commitment to teaching undergraduate students
- Evidence of working effectively with people from diverse backgrounds to achieve shared goals
- Experience teaching health profession students
