The first hand is responsible for the creation of costumes; cutting skills are required, and draping skills are a bonus. All facets of the construction process for the costumes as well as alterations, fittings, and maintenance of pulled or rented clothing items. Refurbishment/alteration of existing costumes for the production season.

Essential Functions:
  • Ability to accurately read and understand written materials and instructions.
  • Able to communicate well and build rapport quickly with students, faculty, and staff.
  • Effective oral and written communication.
  • Ability to work independently and good organizational skills.
  • Advanced patterning and costume construction skills.
  • Experience using industrial sewing machines.
  • Expertise in altering existing costumes and supervising fittings.
Work Schedule: Hours are flexible and can vary during the academic year. This part-time position is limited to 29 hours per week and 999 hours total per calendar year.

Minimum Pay: $20.00 per hour.
