Sauk Valley Community College invites innovative individuals to apply for a tenure-track; nine-month faculty opening that is available for fall 2023. The position will teach precision agriculture, manage the new SVCC greenhouse, and expand the agriculture program through community outreach. Salary is based on education and experience and may be augmented by summer teaching and overload opportunities. The College offers a liberal fringe benefits package and does not deduct FICA from paychecks.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The faculty member will teach and recruit for courses on campus, off campus, and on the internet. This position will also provide input to program and course development, as well as other curriculum initiatives. The faculty member will serve on campus committees and have the option of serving in the role of faculty advisor to associated student clubs. The Agriculture Instructor will have access to a land laboratory and an Ag mechanics workshop to help facilitate instruction. Additionally, the College also receives tremendous community and industry support to achieve the goals of the program.
QUALIFICATIONS
The successful candidate for the position must possess a master’s degree in an agriculture related field and be proficient in precision agriculture topics.
Preference is given to individuals who have college or high school teaching experience, demonstrate a commitment to the community college philosophy, have experience with assessment of student learning outcomes, and have familiarity or experience with internet instruction.
