Summary
University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy in St. Louis is currently looking for an experienced Associate Director, Financial Aid to manage the delivery of student financial aid services to students, and processing and compliance associated with Federal Student Aid programs. In this role, your primary responsibilities will be to provide guidance to financial aid applicants and their families throughout the financial aid application process and deliver financial aid awards to students accounts in an accurate, compliant, and timely manner. The Associate Director, Financial Aid provides leadership to the department in the directors absence.

In this role, you will get the opportunity to:

Federal Programs Management
  • Management of loan processing, disbursement, and monthly reconciliation. Responsible for the universities Federal Work Study program including reconciliation, budgeting, and coordination with various departments.
  • Responsible for Title IV calculations and working with other departments to finalize.
  • Lead the FAOs financial aid verification process, monitoring federal policies dictating verification requirements and training FAO staff on verification document collection and evaluation.
  • Maintain a strong working knowledge of all federal, state, and institutional guidelines regarding financial aid and be a resource to keeping policies, procedures, and concerned parties up to date.

  • Financial Aid Awarding and Counseling
  • Provide counseling and advice throughout the financial aid process to prospective, new, and current students and their families. Must have a thorough knowledge of available types of financial aid, scholarships, and general student eligibility criteria.
  • Partners with admissions to provide prospective student financial aid awards and support through documentation and evaluation.
  • Partner with leader to process requests from students, including obtaining appropriate documentation of the circumstances and communication to all appropriate parties.

  • Financial Aid Communication and Financial Literacy
  • Creation and management of materials to assist prospective students and their families with cost, understanding financial aid and resources.
  • Manage administration of financial aid communication automation and tracking in PowerFAIDS database, including creating and updating student award letters and instructional messages assigned to awards. Will coordinate with other department members in this task.
  • Oversees Federal Student Aid student eligibility certifications, award updates, disbursement requests and approvals, and federal report.
  • Supervises federal work-study students within the Enrollment Management Suite.
  • Other duties as assigned.


  • Qualifications
    To succeed in this role, you will need:
  • Bachelors degree required; in lieu of a bachelors degree consideration may be given to candidates with substantial work experience. Masters degree preferred.
  • At least 5 years of experience with federal student aid programs
  • Must possess a commitment to serving students and possess strong interpersonal communication skills.
  • High proficiency with state, federal regulations as well as systems to effectively process aid is required. Experience with Direct and PLUS loan programs a plus.
  • Strong written communication skills, time-management, and organizational skills as well as the ability to judge, prioritize and work on multiple assignments simultaneously are essential.
  • Ability and experience supervising others.
