Wharton Computing is searching for an Senior Information Security Analyst to join our Information Security Team. Working under Wharton's Chief Information Security Officer and working with a team of technology experts, this position will work on a broad set of projects and incidents to continuously strengthen the environment at the largest business school in the world.

The Senior Information Security Analyst will plan and design security standards and procedures which safeguard the integrity of and access to Wharton systems and services. Manage security improvement projects; maintain knowledge of changing information security threats and technologies; provide recommendations for adaptation of new technologies, procedures, or standards; investigate security incidents; document incidents and respond to security requests using support ticketing systems; perform computer forensics studies and maintain incident tracking records. Provide findings to management to help inform enforcement and auditing. Prepare status reports on security matters; develop security risk analyses; keep management informed of risks and critical issues that might affect clients or school security objectives. Develop, implement, and deploy client, enterprise, and cloud-based security measures; participate in school endpoint computing management projects and evaluations. Work with other schools' IT staff to gain awareness of their issues and promote security initiatives to other IT staff. Work closely and successfully on security incident response and other projects with various school and university constituents including end users, technical colleagues, and information security professionals.

Job Description


Bachelor s degree in Computer Science or other related field and a minimum of 3 years of relevant IT work, preferably in Information Security, Systems Administration, or Support. An equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered.
  • Security and IT certifications are desired such as Security+, CISA, CRISC, GIAC, CISM, or CISSP.
  • The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise in systems administration and the implementation of new technology tools with a focus on security.
  • A solid understanding of the security implications involving client technology, enterprise technology, cloud-based services, computer forensics, and investigative methodology.
  • Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and project management skills, and the ability to deal confidentially with people at all levels of the organization.
  • The ability to evaluate and implement security software and products, and oversee their installation and implementation.
  • Must be able to work independently and as part of a team with a focus on effective collaboration.
  • The ability to train users of all levels and abilities.
  • The Security Analyst will be expected to work normal business hours. The Wharton School, The University of Pennsylvania, and Wharton Computing are currently operating in a flexible hybrid work environment. The Security Analyst will be required to be on call, carry a school-provided cell phone, and occasionally be available to respond to critical events that may occur during non-normal business hours.
  • Strong knowledge of current Information Security frameworks and standards.
  • Experience working in an educational, research, or public-sector environment is highly preferred

Salary offers are made based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, and education as they directly relate to the requirements of the position, as well as internal and market factors and grade profile.
