The Chester Children’s Chorus seeks a Hip Hop Dance Teacher for its 2023 Summer Learning Program, which runs from Monday, June 26 through Wednesday, August 2.

Founded in 1994 by Dr. John Alston, the Chester Children's Chorus (CCC) provides rigorous music and math education to Chester, Pennsylvania students (grades 3-12). All CCC students are invited to attend the CCC Summer Learning Program on the Swarthmore College campus. Students participate in daily choral music instruction, dance, art, academic and physical education classes.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Design, prepare and implement a Hip Hop Dance curriculum with two or three separate groups of middle and high school-aged Chorus members during one-hour elective courses, Monday through Thursday.
  • Prepare for and lead a Hip Hop Dance Concert at the end of the summer program, including all production aspects of the performance.
  • The Hip Hop Dance Teacher reports to the Managing and Education Director with added support from program staff.
Qualifications:
  • At least three years experience teaching Hip Hop Dance to middle and high school aged children.
  • Experience in managing all aspects of dance performance production.
  • Strong communication, time management and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated interest and enjoyment in working with young people and supporting their healthy growth and development.
  • A responsive and nurturing teaching style.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.

This position may regularly interact with minors. Under Pennsylvania Child Protective Services Law, (23 Pa. Cons. Stat. §§6301, et seq.) employees who have direct contact with minors are required to obtain the following background clearances prior to the start of employment:
  • Pennsylvania Access to Criminal History (PATCH) through the Pennsylvania State Police
  • Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance (PACA) through the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services
  • FBI Criminal History Background Check (FBI Fingerprint).
