Associate Director, Alumni Admissions & Parent Engagement

As the next Associate Director, Alumni Admissions and Parent Engagement, you will have the opportunity to create meaningful ways to educate and motivate alumni, parents, and families to project Bucknell into the forefront of higher education institutions. This role is highly collaborative and is primarily responsible for developing and implementing leading parent and family engagement programs, managing and stewarding the Parents Association Board of Directors, and leading a top-notch relevant alumni admissions program.

In this role you will be responsible for:

Parents Association Board of Directors
  • Lead the operations of and communications with the Parents Association Board of Directors including meetings, membership, Board initiatives, and fundraising initiatives and progress.
  • Lead planning meetings with Board leaders to advance the Board's signature initiatives (Career, Outreach, Admissions, DEI, Philanthropy), plan meetings, and build leadership succession.
  • Manage the application and interview process and partners with Board leaders on the selection process for Board members.
  • Manage the Board's role in major campus weekends such as Homecoming / Family Weekend, Commencement Weekend, and Admitted Students Days.
  • Build strong relationships with campus partners to support Parent Board initiatives and interests.

Alumni Admissions
  • Serve as a key liaison between Advancement and Admissions for communications and information related to prospective student recommendations, alumni relationships, parent and alumni volunteers, and education about Bucknell's Admissions process.
  • Develop and manage all aspects of the Alumni Admissions Programs that educate alumni and their students about the college admissions process on-campus, online, and off-campus. Programs include College Admissions Workshop for high school students, Bucknell for Life alumni families receptions at Orientation and Commencement, and a summer virtual event for first-year families.
  • Plan and execute events and college planning workshops.
  • Leads the alumni and legacy recommendation process in coordination with Advancement leaders and Admissions.

Parent and Family Engagement
  • Lead strategy and execution for parent and family engagement programs including operations, volunteer management, and events while coordinating with Marketing, Strategy and Outreach team, Strategic Philanthropy team, Events team, and CAFE Program managers.
  • Coordinate programming with other program managers to build a robust variety of events such as career, social, cultural, and athletic. This includes programming for parents during major campus weekends such as Homecoming/ Family Weekend, the Candlelighting Ceremony and Commencement Weekend, and Admitted Students Days.
  • Partner with the Events team on event logistics such as selection of speakers, venue, menu, registration, marketing, etc.

We are looking for someone with:
  • Bachelor's degree AND experience that includes the following points: (years can be concurrent)
    OR an equivalent combination of education and the experience outlined below and to be specifically described in your cover letter
    • Three (3) years of volunteer management experience
    • Three (3) years of professional experience in program development and administration
    • One (1) year of experience in event planning

You should also have:
  • Strong people skills and relationship building experience
  • Experience that demonstrates the ability and commitment to learn how to use a variety of computer-based programs and platforms to perform essential job duties such as Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, CRM database functions and other web-based tools
  • Demonstrated maturity of judgment, high-level of accuracy and close attention to detail, with strong ethical sense to handle confidential and sensitive information appropriately
  • Demonstrated creativity and broad-level strategic thinking
  • Demonstrated ability to professionally represent Bucknell and communicate effectively with various diverse audiences including alumni, parents, friends, faculty/staff, board members, and University leadership
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills, as well as excellent editing skills
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, work independently and produce high-quality work under tight deadlines
  • Valid U.S. driver's license along with the energy and willingness to travel including air travel and to major metropolitan areas

Preferred qualifications:
  • Demonstrated understanding of the University admissions process
  • Three years of professional experience in program development and administration for university constituents (alumni, parents, and/or students)

Other Requirements:
This position (and all positions in our division) requires the occasional evening and weekend work to support university events including Homecoming & Family Weekend, Reunion Weekend, and large Career events. We do ask staff to mark their calendars in advance for these events. Also, UA may occasionally coordinate on-campus or off-campus events/activities outside of standard business hours.

Work Type:

This is a full-time, year round, benefits eligible position. This role is not budgeted for visa sponsorship at this time, all candidates must be authorized to work in the US at the time of submission of the application.

Salary Range:
This is a staff exempt position with a hiring range of $52,500-65,625 (E08). The offer rate will be based on a review of the candidate's credentials compared to the qualifications of the position, internal equity, and our overall compensation philosophy.
