Associate Dean of Students for Conduct, Health, and
Other, Student Affairs
The Associate Dean of Students provides strategic leadership,
vision and direction for key campus initiatives including Student
Conduct, the Counseling & Student Development Center,
Interpersonal Violence Prevention & Advocacy, Bucknell Student
Health and Bucknell Nutrition. As the chief conduct officer, the
Associate Dean of Students ensures that students' rights are
protected and University standards of student conduct are followed.
Reporting to the Dean of Students (chief student affairs officer),
the Associate Dean is a member of the leadership team in the
Division of Student Affairs.
Provide leadership and
supervision of the offices listed above, as well as supervision and
management of additional staff members and student workers employed
by these offices, in coordination with individual departmental
directors and in accordance with University policies and
Build a cohesive team among the Conduct, Health & Wellness
staff and facilitate collaborations needed to accomplish
departmental and office goals and priorities.
Collaborate with other Associate Deans and their teams within the
Division of Student Affairs and with other leaders, faculty and
staff across campus to promote and advance the priorities of the
Division of Student Affairs and University.
Assist all service areas with strategic planning, prioritization
and implementation of relevant goals and objectives.
Identify trends, best practices, and visionary strategies to assist
each area to reach the most successful outcomes for Bucknell's
Assist in the development and oversight of the budgetary and
financial planning process for each area of Conduct, Health &
Adjudicate alleged student misconduct in accordance with the
procedures set forth in the University Student Code of

responsibility among students and educate students about that
Communicate with parents and families regarding conduct related
Respond to requests for references, recommendations, and Dean's
Certifications for students transferring from Bucknell, applying to
professional schools, etc.
Student Health and Nutritionist
Oversee Student Health and nutrition programs with a focus on
prevention, education and promotion of healthy lifestyles.
Serve as the liaison to Geisinger Health System to effectively
administer the existing contractual relationship for student health
Oversee the implementation of alcohol and other drug educational
Create and manage the campus-wide distribution of the bi-weekly
health and wellness publication.
Evaluate and make recommendations regarding the current and future
success of programs in the existing service areas.
Meet regularly with the Medical Director and Nutritionist to
effectively assess, administer and manage services.
Support the Director in the overall management of the Counseling
& Student Development Center services.
Provide direction, guidance, consultation and supervision to
clinical and support staff regarding services.
Oversee a range of counseling services to include personal/social,
academic, career, crisis intervention, and short-term psychological
Interpersonal Violence Prevention and Advocacy Support
Provide direction, guidance, consultation and supervision to staff
regarding programs and services.
Meet regularly with the Interpersonal Violence Prevention and
Advocacy Coordinator to effectively assess, administer and manage
Student Affairs Leadership Team Member
Handle student crises and emergencies as needed and on an on-call
Assist with the management of Student Affairs departmental
projects, strategic plans and staff development.
Serve as a member of the Students of Concern committee and other
divisional and University committees.
Attend and actively participate in divisional staff meetings and
Maintain a high degree of visibility and availability to students,
faculty and staff.
Actively contribute to Bucknell's efforts to foster a diverse and
inclusive campus community through intercultural competence.
Support and promote the University's DEI and sustainability efforts
to protect, maintain, and increase the long-term viability and
resilience of the University's employees, environmental,
social, and economic support systems.
Complete other duties as assigned.
At least seven years of comprehensive higher education experience
related to at least one of the areas this position supervises
Demonstrated experience working with student conduct, including
complex, high-level reports of student misconduct
Demonstrated ability to work with highly complex and difficult
Demonstrated leadership and supervisory experience in higher
Familiarity with confidentiality and student privacy
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Strong commitment to student growth and development
Ability to work collaboratively and successfully across cultures
and styles at all levels of the organization
Ability to cultivate and maintain strong relationships, and build
consensus and support
Sensitivity to issues related to socioeconomic class, gender
identity and expression, sexuality, race and ethnicity, privilege
and power relationships, and transitions to adulthood
A doctorate degree
or juris doctor degree.
This is a full-time staff exempt benefits-eligible position.
This role is not budgeted for visa sponsorship at this time, all
candidates must be authorized to work in the US at the time of
submission of the application.
This is a staff exempt position with a hiring range of $106,500 -
$133,125. The offer rate will be based on a review of the
candidate's credentials compared to the qualifications of the
position, internal equity, and our overall compensation
