Job Description:

Prepare and mixes ingredients for cold dishes and beverages. Make toast, prepares short order foods on grill and fried foods. Assembles food for patients and serves employees, visitors, and students.

All employees must adhere to the following at all times:
1. Employee is expected to adhere to UTMC Service Values including iCare standards at all times.
2. Adheres to hospital policies and procedures as well as addresses patient safety, performance improvement, and quality of care issues. 2 patient identifiers must be used.
3. Knowledgeable about patient safety and quality of care issues. Able to recognize safety issues in the department and handles incidents per institutional and/or departmental policies and procedures. If safety issues were identified; all issues were handled timely and appropriately.
4. Employee attends and follows all department specific safety education and training in an effort to create a safe work environment.
1. Reports equipment dysfunction in timely manner.
2. Make sure alternate process is in place and action is taken.
3. Worked as a team to limit exposure and create a safe work environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education/experience/licensing:
• High school diploma or GED equivalent or food prep experience.
• Food preparation vocational training preferred
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide whole numbers.

Communication and other skills:
• Ability to read and write simple sentences and be able to carry out verbal instructions.
• Requires full range of body motion; requires prolong standing; frequent bending, stooping, stretching and manual dexterity, eye-hand coordination, pushing carts on carpeting, and riding on elevators. May require lifting up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work with others in a stressful work environment
