The University of Southern Maine’s Career and Employment Hub is seeking a Pre-Health Advisor. We welcome the opportunity to talk with you about joining a team that strives to serve our students first every day!

The Career and Employment Hub gives students the opportunity to gain experience in the field, explore career directions, develop global citizenship skills, and give back to the community. Students are able to connect to a variety of services from their first day on campus to years after they graduate, supporting students through career exploration, self-assessments, internship search, interviewing skills, and more. The Pre-Health Advisor will work with professional advisors and faculty through the advising process. This position provides career planning services, including individual and group career consultation for undergraduates and graduates in various stages of the career planning process for entering healthcare professions such as medicine, dentistry, physical therapy, and biomedical/biotech research. The Pre-Health Advisor manages design and delivery of pre-health-related career development workshops, seminars, and programs. In addition, this position advises and assists students with the application process for medical and professional schools in the health professions.

This is a two-year full-time, fixed length position with the possibility of renewal with an annual salary up to $45,730 commensurate with experience. This position is located on the Portland campus, with expectation of work/service in Portland, Gorham, and Lewiston/Auburn.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree (or commensurate international degree) with 3 years of experience in Higher Ed, Career Advising, Human Resources, Job Placement or similar experience OR a comparable combination of post high school education and experience.
