LSC consists of eight colleges, seven centers, eight Workforce Centers of Excellence and Lone Star Corporate College.

Lone Star College-System Office employees are based at one of two System Office locations; The Woodlands and University Park. Both are the site for multiple administrative departments and system-wide training programs.

Job Description

PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

The Chancellor of Lone Star College provides leadership and oversight for all Lone Star College Campuses, and its students, faculty, staff and administrators. The Chancellor spearheads growth to academic and workforce excellence by developing a vision plan which includes system-wide initiatives and establishing and maintaining external partnerships and community relations. This role ensures the College is meeting needs of all constituents including students, community, taxpayers, and educational partners. The Chancellor works with key local, state, national, and international leaders to accomplish the College’s mission.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Creates, advances, and communicates a clear vision for the College to all stakeholders
  2. Personally adheres to, and fosters in others, high ethical standards in matters both internal and external to the College
  3. Ensures a student-centered philosophy with a demonstrated commitment to student success programs and fosters program development and evaluation, outcomes assessment, and meet accreditation requirements
  4. Seeks and supports innovation, especially regarding student success
  5. Ensures transparency and fairness in all aspects of the College, including allocation of resources and treatment of students and employees
  6. Understands, and works towards, establishing and maintaining alternate revenue streams and protecting the College’s AAA bond rating
  7. Holds administrative expenses to a minimum without compromising efficiency or student services
  8. Brings imagination, creativity, and humor to the position in resolving problems
  9. Has a record of participative decision-making, and values unique differences among individuals within the context of building consensus while balancing the interests and needs of the College’s various constituencies.   10. Sets College strategy and goals to support College-wide understanding, respect and support for diversity among students, faculty, staff and other constituent groups

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Demonstrates integrity, highest ethical standards, and respect for the dignity and worth of individuals and groups

PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.

WORK SCHEDULE AND CONDITIONS:
  • Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other general office equipment
  • Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position
  • Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards
  • The incumbent will be traveling to various sites throughout the city via private car
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Master’s degree from an institutionally accredited institution is required and a doctorate is highly preferred
  • A successful track record and extensive, progressively responsible experience in higher education administration
  • Classroom teaching and/or student development experience
  • Legislative and policy experience
  • Fundraising and development experience
  • Experience working in a multi-college system is preferred
Salary

Salary will be commensurate with education and experience.
