Job Description

Under general supervision, coordinates activities and functions of a designated program. Coordinates and directs activities and functions of multiple programs which includes programs around teacher preparation, ensuring that the goals and objectives of the programs are accomplished. Supports the day to day management of ASU's TRIO SSS programs, including planning, coordinating, and supervising TRIO staff.

 

Days and Schedule: Work Location is split across multiple campuses; however , incumbent may be required to travel to off-campus events to perform work driving their own vehicle. This position is a Full-time position from Monday thru Friday 8AM to 5PM, evenings and weekends may be occasionally be required.

 

Flexible work arrangements are available in an alternative or hybrid schedule but will be based on the work and the needs of the university and department operations and pending leadership approval.

Essential Duties

  • Develops and monitors daily operations and coordinates program activities in accordance with established program objectives.
  • Supports the recruitment of participants.
  • Supervises performance and development of assigned program staff.
  • Assists with hiring assigned staff.
  • Performs tasks related to a specific function/program assigned, such as marketing, development of projects, and implementation of goals.
  • Represents TRIO Programs and serves on various department and university committees.
  • Identifies, develops and maintains working relationships with the university and community agencies for support of program participants.
  • Works with management team to evaluate effectiveness.
  • Oversees the development and facilitation of workshops and meetings, monitors logistics, scheduling and participant communications.
  • Represents university in public relations/liaison capacity on matters relating to function, program, and production.
  • Supports the administration of multiple TRIO Program in collaboration with TRIO Programs Leadership and Educational Outreach and Student Services.
  • Attends professional development opportunities to enhance program success.
  • Serves on University wide committees that enhance the TRIO student experience.

 

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment AND five (5) years of related experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

 

Desired Qualifications

  • Will consider evidence of a Master's Degree in Education and 3 years’ experience
  • Experience working with:
  • program development;
  • students in higher education;
  • teacher preparation
  • a diverse student population including first generation students/families;
  • staff management;
  • TRIO or other federal grant programs;
  • Microsoft Office applications (i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook) and databases.
  • Evidence of effective communication skills
  • Bilingual English/Spanish – speak, read, and write
  • Experience with completing assigned projects in a timely manner and work well under priority deadlines
  • Experience with grant writing, preferably federal grants
  • Experience in planning, scheduling, and supervising the work of others

  • Work collaboratively across various departments within the University as well as with diverse populations and groups
  • Develop and deliver presentations to groups
  • Use computers effectively – including inputting, reviewing and retrieving information, extended periods of viewing screen and using mouse and keyboard
  • Use critical thinking to make decisions and/or analyze data
  • Research, develop, implement and assess programs
  • Develop budgets and monitor expenditures
  • Supervise students and/or staff
  • Communicate effectively
  • Walk throughout campus for meetings or events, regardless of the weather
  • Work collaboratively to achieve objectives
  • Climb stairs in locations with no elevator, such as with the mezzanine level of the MU, or Irish Hall
  • Ability to lift 35 lbs.
