The University of Nevada, Reno is seeking a collaborative and strategic leader to fill the role of Associate Vice President for Compliance and Research Administration.  In this position, you will be responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and monitoring of policies and procedures related to award administration activities, environmental health and safety, animal care and use programs, and human subject-related research. Working closely with upper-level administration, you will ensure that all research activities comply with federal, state, and university regulations, and that our researchers have the resources and support they need to carry out their work with integrity and safety.

 

As the liaison between principal investigators, research sponsors, and various university offices and committees, you will ensure that all sponsored agreements and awards are processed in a timely and effective manner, and negotiate non-standard terms and conditions of awards, grants, and contracts with government contract officers and private company attorneys. You will also oversee compliance and regulatory affairs, manage the accreditation process of various bodies, and coordinate audits and monitoring activities to ensure compliance with sponsor and federal regulations.

 

In addition to your administrative duties, you will lead a team of directors responsible for sponsored projects, research integrity, environmental health and safety, and animal resources; ensuring that staff are properly trained and coached to handle complex compliance issues, operational and process improvement opportunities, and change management within their departments. You will also provide support to the Vice President for Research and Innovation in budget development and strategic planning, conceptualizing data reporting to enhance decision-making, and completing other tasks and projects as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Master's Degree and five (5) years related managerial experience or Doctorate Degree/Terminal Degree and three years (3) related managerial experience.

Related Experience: Research administration, regulatory policy and policy formulation, contract negotiation and budgetary experience.

Grants-in-aid for Faculty Employees
