Job Details

Emporia State University’s Department of Elementary Education/Early Childhood/Special Education is seeking applications for one 9-month special education faculty position with an emphasis in gifted, talented, and creative education. This position will be a non-tenure track, campus-based position in our CAEP accredited special education program.

This non-tenure track appointment includes teaching and service responsibilities without scholarship responsibilities. The appointment will commence in August 2023. For those with a completed doctorate, there is the possible option of a multi-year, performance-based contract.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The successful applicant will teach a variety of graduate courses in special education. Assigned courses may include characteristics/education/affective needs of gifted students, creative teaching and learning, special education assessment, and/or practicum courses. The successful applicant will place and supervise practicum students. 
  • The position will include teaching online courses at the campus in Emporia. 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required

  • A master’s degree in education, Special Education, Curriculum and Instruction, Education or related degree. 
  • Five or more years of teaching experience in an accredited school. Must include some teaching experience in special education.
  • Training in research-based approaches to teach courses related to special education curriculum, instruction, and assessment in gifted education.
  • Current teaching license in special education or previously held a valid special education teaching license.

Preferred

  • Doctorate in Special Education Gifted Education or related degree.
  • Experience teaching elementary education or special education at the graduate level.
  • Experience supervising gifted education teachers in field experiences.
