General Function: 

 

Provide leadership in the development, assessment, strategic planning, budget, coaching, recruiting, game day operations, community outreach, fundraising, and administration of all athletics programs of the college in alignment with the established vision, mission, goals and culture of the institution. Provide management and oversight for a competitive intercollegiate athletics program and ensure compliance with all National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA), Tennessee Community College Athletic Association (TCCAA), and institution policies and regulations.

 

 

 

Minimum Qualifications: 

 

Bachelor’s degree earned from a regionally accredited institution in sports management, athletic administration, athletics education or related field and at least five years’ full-time experience in post-secondary athletics administration or athletics coaching including experience with recruiting, NJCAA or NCAA regulations, policies, compliance, and supervision of staff.

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

Master’s degree earned from a regionally accredited institution in sports management, athletic administration, athletics education, higher education, or related field and at least seven years’ full-time experience in post-secondary athletics administration or athletics coaching including experience with recruiting, NJCAA or NCAA regulations, policies, compliance, and supervision of staff. 

 

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage all day-to-day operations of the Athletics Department, including annual coaching and program assessments, operational oversight of all inter collegiate sports, esports programs, budgets, travel and scheduling of all home and away activities or events Ensures inter-collegiate athletic programs maintain compliance with all NJCAA, TCCAA, and institution policies and regulations.  Compile, submit timely, and maintain all information needed for athletic eligibility, including but not limited to, medical data, releases, transfer waivers, scholarships, and NJCAA letters of intent; In coordination with coaches tracks and ensures continued eligibility of all student athletes Manage game day operations Provide leadership, strategic planning, and management of athletics fundraising, public relations and promotional activities in coordination with other college offices for funding and promotion of all athletic programs.   .   Coordinate with the Director of Facilities to ensure maintenance and preparation of the athletic fields and courts to ensure safe play and maintain attractive facilities.       Coordinate with the appropriate offices to develop marketing plans for all athletic programs among students, faculty, staff, alumni, and the community. Plan, develop, and organize athletic summer camps or events alongside respective coaching staffs; Ensures compliance with TBR policy 7.04.00.00 if these events involve minors Other duties as assigned

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

 

  • Maintains knowledge of NJCAA, TBR, TCCAA conference rules, college policy, state and federal law, including but not limited to Title IX. Knowledge of confidentiality statutes and policies as they apply to students, faculty, and staff Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally, with College officials, fellow employees, students, and stakeholder’s on matters pertinent to the Athletics Program Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse community Ability to establish and maintain effective positive working relationships with students, faculty, staff, community partners and other stakeholders Ability to enhance the campus community, develop and maintain a culture of compliance, excellence, and belonging in the Athletics Program
