  • The Payroll Coordinator is responsible for the administration of all payroll related functions to result in timely and accurate payroll production. Process and report on deductions such as garnishments, benefits and taxes. Responsible for ensuring that all payroll reporting complies with federal, state and GCU regulations/policies.

    Essential Functions:
  • Payroll Coordinator must be highly technical and capable of functioning in ADP Workforce Now payroll system.
  • Direct and coordinate all activities related to the overall administration of Georgian Court Payroll Department.
  • Develop the schedules, calendars and communications for Payroll.
  • Provide guidance, counseling and training to university staff on appropriate operating processes, practices and procedures.
  • Directs and monitors the garnishment process for child support, bankruptcies, IRS levies and tuition remission.
  • Develop and maintain Payroll policies and procedures to assure compliance with state, federal and GCU policies.
  • Responsible for fiscal year-end accruals and adjustments to payroll and audit requests. Compile and organize payroll materials for annual audits and IRS Form 990 preparation.
  • Issuance of W-2's and filing the federal and state reports that are associated with employer's payroll taxes and serve as lead contact for DOL audits.
  • Analyze existing processes within the ADP Workforce Now payroll system and recommend enhancements.
  • Review and approve all Employer Quarterly Federal Tax Returns and ensures payroll tax deposits are made timely and accurately.
  • Serve as liaison with ADP client representative in solving all payroll issues.
  • Maintain a wide variety of payroll information, files and records in written and electronic formats for the purpose of providing an up-to-date reference and audit trail for compliance.
  • Interpret university policies and government regulations affecting payroll procedures and deductions, implement any required changes and internal controls as necessary.
  • Coordinate efforts with Finance Department to process all changes to the ADP database and ensure departmental allocations and ADP import is accurate.
  • Communicates actively with HR and Finance to review cross-departmental impacts and reconcile data sharing.
  • Critically review and analyze current payroll, benefits and tax procedures in order to recommend and implement changes leading to best-practice operations. Implement and recommend internal controls.
  • Responsible for creating and facilitating a Payroll service delivery model that promotes customer service.
  • Integrate the core values of respect, compassion, integrity, justice and service in all aspects of interaction.
  • Prepare relevant management reports, including weekly, monthly, quarterly and year-end reports.
  • Run ad hoc reports for departments as needed.
  • Partner with HR in aligning and implementing efficiencies and enhancements for the benefits system.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Accounting Manager.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum 5-7 years equivalent experience in field required.
  • Working experience of payroll tax at the federal, state and local levels.
  • Extensive knowledge of ADP is required; experience with ADP Workforce Now and e-Time is preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, and/or Business Administration is a plus.
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CCP) is a plus.
  • Proficient at MS Office (Medium to High level experience in Excel is required).
  • Must be highly organized, confidential with excellent communication skills.
