West Virginia University School of Medicine and the Department of Pediatrics seeks a Pediatric Gastroenterologist (ranks available: Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor). The successful candidate will be expected to practice in Morgantown, WV.

Duties: The successful candidate will practice pediatric gastroenterology in a group with four other gastroenterologists, three advanced practice providers, and three nurse coordinators. Endoscopy is performed within the hospital with a strong team of pediatric anesthesiologists and nurse anesthetists. Inpatients are managed by the hospitalist and critical care services with Pediatric GI providing consults as needed. WVU Children’s proudly participates in the Improve Care Now network. In addition to providing excellent patient care, the successful candidate will also be actively involved in teaching medical students, residents, and fellows.

Qualifications: Candidate must have an MD or DO degree or foreign equivalent and be eligible for state medical license. Successful candidate must have completed a Pediatric residency program, as well as a Pediatric Gastroenterology fellowship program. Successful candidates must be board certified / eligible in Pediatric Gastroenterology. All qualifications must be met by the time of appointment.

Our new 150 bed Children’s Hospital has a full suite of pediatric operating rooms, cardiac catheterization lab/interventional radiology, and GI-endoscopy with dedicated pediatric anesthesia staff. The hospital includes 34 pediatric beds, 54 NICU beds, 26 PICU beds, Heart Center, and a dedicated Cancer Center. WVU Medicine Children’s is a Level 2 Pediatric Trauma Center, with plans to become Level 1, as it is for adults currently. There is also be a Birthing Center including a 30-bed obstetrical unit and maternal-fetal medicine clinic. J. W. Ruby Memorial Hospital is the only hospital in West Virginia with a pediatric cardiac surgery program, the only epilepsy monitoring unit in the state equipped to serve children, and the only hospital in the state to receive Magnet status for nursing excellence.
