UNC Pembroke School of Education seeks to fill the Joseph Oxendine Endowed Professorship in the School of Education. Position begins August 2023. The endowed full professor would assist in class coverage for a growing program, leadership in the department and the School of Education (SOE), and scholarship connecting to the SOE, campus, and community.

Candidates should provide evidence of supporting pre-service and in-service teachers, commitment to equity and diversity in public schooling, experience in collaboration with K-12 faculty and school partners and expertise in leadership and program development.

Strong consideration will be afforded to candidates with a demonstrated record of professional teaching experience at the K-12 and collegiate level, including online teaching with an ability to successfully structure and implement a distance-education based course. Minimum Training and Experience Requirements:  

Doctoral degree in a related education field required, including but not limited to:
Curriculum and Instruction or Elementary Education, from an accredited program with at
least 18 hours of graduate work.

Teaching expertise required in educational fields including educational foundations and
research, elementary education, and/or classroom instructional methods, subjects
including but not limited to literacy, language arts, mathematics, science and/or social
studies.

Excellent teaching skills and interpersonal skills, combined with strong oral and written
communication skills; Effective use of technology in teaching and learning; Knowledge
and expertise in use of North Carolina Professional Teaching Standards and North
Carolina Standard Course of Study related to teaching practices; and knowledge and
expertise in use of TaskStream, Learning Management Systems, edTPA assessments
and CAEP accreditation. Applicants should be strongly committed to excellence in
teaching, and to working and teaching in a diverse cultural environment.

License or Certification:  Hold or are eligible to hold a current North Carolina Teaching License with a minimum of three years successful teaching experience in public schools is required.
