ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF GRAPHIC DESIGN

The Art Department in the Fulton School of Liberal Arts at Salisbury University is accepting applications for the Assistant Professor of Graphic Design position. This is a ten-month full-time tenure-track position beginning August 2023. We are seeking a diverse pool of applicants to add to and expand our current faculty and course offerings. 

Area of Specialization: Graphic Design

Primary Job Duties: Teach three studio classes (12 credits) per semester primarily in all levels of Graphic Design, as well as Design Principles (the Departmental foundational course for all Art and Design students). Teach Typography, Illustration or other classes as assigned. Advise students. Service to the department, school, and University. Perform professional activity in graphic design at a level appropriate to teaching and service workload. Work collegially with studio art faculty as well as faculty across the university in an interdisciplinary fashion. We seek candidates who are effective teachers to teach a mixture of design and studio art majors, as well as non-art majors in some classes within an undergraduate liberal arts setting

Minimum Qualifications: Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Graphic Design or a related field. Teaching experience at the college or university level.

Preferred Qualifications: Professional graphic design experience. Proficiency in technologies relevant to graphic design and digital media. Knowledge of design history and contemporary issues in design.
