The Director, Total Rewards and Compensation provides strategic direction and oversight of the University's total rewards program to attract, engage and retain our most valuable asset - our faculty and staff. The Director is responsible for strategic design, development and implementation of forward-thinking, market-competitive infrastructures that deliver on the employee value proposition. This role, as part of the senior HR leadership team, collaborates to lead and retain a high-performing, results-oriented, and engaged team; creating a shared vision of excellence, student focus and servant leadership through the utilization of inclusive practices, performance management, recognition and professional development. The Director will partner with direct reports and campus constituents to deliver transformative organizational human resources support and services in alignment with the mission, vision and values of the University.

This position reports to the Executive Director, Employee Wellness and Learning and leads a team that includes: Manager, Compensation; Manager, Benefits and Wellness; Manager, Learning and Development and HR Generalist, Benefits and Leave Management. Key collaborations for this role include: Director Talent and Employee Experience, VPHR, and Provost.

Job Duties:
Leverage knowledge of market shifts and the competitive talent landscape to design innovative strategies, programming and partnerships to attract and retain employees in the areas of compensation, benefits/wellness, and learning/development for the varying segments of the University community.

Develop and deliver communications, learning and development that help our employees appreciate and value their total compensation package (base, benefits, bonus, equity, time off, etc.) through total rewards statements and materials.

Serve as subject matter expert regarding legislation and best practices in all reward areas (compensation equity, retirement plans, benefits, healthcare, equity plans, administration). Ensure that all total rewards programs are compliant with applicable laws and regulations.

Lead and direct modeling, costing of base and promotional salaries, statistical analysis, salary surveys, market analysis and incentive and equity programs, providing data and analysis that lead to strategic planning and operational execution.

Direct, develop and lead the total rewards function, including all compensation, classification, workforce planning, career pathing, implementation of an organizational learning and development framework, benefits, and leave programs with a focus on excellence of service.

Execute visionary leadership and supervisory responsibilities including leading, mentoring and developing staff, planning, assigning and directing work as well as managing and appraising performance.

Work closely with the Director, Talent and Employee Experience to ensure recruitment activities are utilizing total rewards in recruitment and hiring conversations, to implement strategic comprehensive staffing reviews across campus, and to develop career pathing tools to communicate position requirements and skills needed for advancement in specific areas.

Perform other duties as required or appropriate.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience with a minimum five (5) years relevant and progressive experience in total rewards, including but not limited to benefits program administration, job evaluation and compensation analysis, including three (3) years of leadership and direct supervision of staff.

Demonstrated high level of professionalism, exceptional customer service, strong presentation and written and verbal communication skills to diverse audiences. Ability to create a sense of belonging with demonstrated intercultural competence.

Excellent analytical and organizational skills and the ability to make independent judgments.

Proficiency in HRIS, Microsoft Office Suite and data analytic software.

Preferred Qualifications:
Certified Employee Benefits Speciality or Certified Compensation Professional designation or other professional certifications (PHR, SPHR, CCP, SHRM-SCP, etc.).

Prior experience in higher education total rewards and/or learning and organizational development acumen.

Experience with Workday and compensation software.

Work Type:
This is a full-time, year round, benefits eligible position. This position will be considered for scheduling flexibility to work in a hybrid capacity based on staffing and business needs.

This role is not budgeted for visa sponsorship at this time, all candidates must be authorized to work in the US at the time of submission of the application.

Salary Range:
This is a Staff Exempt position with a hiring range of $106,500 to $133,125.. The offer rate will be based on a review of the candidate's credentials compared to the qualifications of the position, internal equity, and our overall compensation philosophy.
