Job Summary/Basic Function:
The Coordinator of Internship and Career Development Programming reports to the Coordinator of Wildcat Advantage and High Impact Educational Experiences Implementation and provides strategic direction, support, and administration for university internship programs and related high impact initiatives within the WSU Career Services Office. The Coordinator oversees internship development efforts with employers and the marketing of internships and other high impact opportunities to employers and students within the social sciences, arts and humanities, natural sciences, and other WSU Colleges. They provide strategic direction, support, and administration for the university internship programs such as (but not limited to) Career Development Attribute (CDEV), Portfolium/Digital Fluency education and implementation, Internship Attribute (INT), the on-campus internship course (“REAL Projects”), WSU Internship Survey, and the Annual WSU Internship Conference. In addition, they help support digital tools, oversee internship outreach efforts to employers, promote internships and other high-impact opportunities through workshops and in-class presentations, meet with and advise students who are seeking internships (in conjunction with department internship coordinators), provide direction and leadership for the development of internship programs at the university level, and offer support and training to department internship coordinators, career counselors/advisors, and administration. Support and assist the Coordinator of the Wildcat Advantage in special projects, various events, and strategic planning around high impact educational experiences.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business, Communication, Higher Education/Student Affairs Administration, Social and Behavioral Science, Arts and Humanities, Science or other related field from an accredited institution .

2 years of related experience working in the corporate or nonprofit sector or experience in career counseling/advising, employment, or job development/placement, in higher education.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in a related field
  • Skills in collaboration, teamwork, persuasion, team building, leadership, budget management, writing reports and informative documents, and making public presentations.
  • Establish positive relationships and communicate effectively with a diverse group of individuals (students, faculty, staff, co-workers, university executives and employers) orally and in written format.
  • Strong technology skills; comfort using database, spreadsheet, and presentation software, and social media platforms. Experience with electronic portfolios. Skills in office computer applications and online job search tools. Familiarity with survey and report management software.
  • Experience in college student recruitment by employers, student employment advising, and job search skills job search methods.
  • Methods/techniques of research, analysis, presentation of statistical data, skill in record keeping and proposal/business/report writing
  • Advanced problem-solving, decision-making, prioritization, project management (including large initiatives), and event management skills.

Visual Acuity Requirements including color, depth perception and field of vision: Required to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; using a computer terminal; extensive reading.
