Job Description

Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine (VTCSOM) features a unique curriculum that integrates four value domains across all four years of education: Clinical Science (CS), Basic Science, Research, and Health Systems Science and Interprofessional Practice (HSSIP).
The pre-clerkship manager of CS administers and manages the overall day-to-day operations of the pre-clerkship Clinical Science (CS) domain.
We seek a manager with a growth mindset to join our team and support our educational mission statement: “To inspire a community of learning that embraces unique learner characteristics and cultivates lifelong learners and health systems thinkers positioned to improve healthcare through inquiry and humility.“
As VTCSOM undergoes strategic planning and curricular revisions, we anticipate that the CS manager will collaborate with the clinical years to improve vertical integration across the medical education continuum.

• Engages in communication, collaboration, and a shared responsibility for improving all programs.
• Maximize co-production principles in curricular design and improvement.

The CS manager maintains a core role in directing, developing, and implementing all activities related to the domain including but not limited to communication, faculty scheduling, assessments, data analytics, feedback, and budget.
This position reports directly to the Associate Dean of Clinical Science Years 1 and 2, and will collaborate closely with medical education leaders, other value domains, the Standardized Patient program and the Carilion Center for Simulation, Research, and Patient Safety staff.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in education, applied sciences, instructional technology, or related field from an accredited college or university
• Significant experience in a healthcare or higher education setting
• Ability to interact respectfully and comfortably with all individuals in a diverse, multicultural environment exercising judgment and a high degree of professional integrity
• Excellent interpersonal, teamwork, leadership, and communication skills
• Demonstrable experience in the supervision of personnel
• Self-motivated ability to work independently with a high level of decision-making and organizational skills
• Adaptable with the ability to efficiently manage multiple projects and respond to changing priorities
• PC software skills in word processing, spreadsheets, database creation, and management, and presentation software

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree or progress towards a master’s degree in a healthcare or educational field
• Experience with curriculum support, educational assessment, and data analytics
• Previous customer service and/or administrative support experience in an academic, healthcare, or business setting
• Experience with digital webinar and video streaming software systems
