Job Summary

The Program Manager is responsible for managing daily financial

activities (invoicing, sub-contract management and/or financial reporting for the

SDFR Policy Research and its grant programs as well as work with School of

Agriculture directors and staff to develop and deliver training, education and

outreach activities. The Program Manager provides leadership for assigned
operational function(s) within a department, regularly makes decisions for
establishing work priorities and managing activities, and for coordinating
workflow and interactions within the department and with other departments

Essential Job Functions
  • Manages post-award functions for the Policy Center’s grants/ cooperative agreements program to include: proposal budget review; coordination of sub-award initiation and execution; review and approval of sub award invoices for fiscal compliance; ensures the timely receipt of sub award invoices; and, advises sub awardees and Policy Center PI’s on the appropriate expenditure of grant funding.
  • Coordinates sub award agreement modification requests and amendments and recommends execution as appropriate under the direction of Policy Center Directors with guidance from the Office of Sponsored Programs.
  • Coordinates outreach efforts with Policy Center staff and leadership to effectively educate stakeholders about Policy Center activities and impacts.
  • Coordinates training of SDFR provided by the Policy Center (Farm Bill and impact of policy on SDFRs)
  • Coordinates financial management of Policy Center and Competitive Grant Programs, compiling financial reports, creating annual program budgets, etc.
  • Prepares and makes presentations
Qualifications

The position requires a bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline plus three

(3) years of relevant professional experience, or a master’s degree. Relevant disciplines include Business Management, Agriculture, Economics, etc…
