Job Description    

Founded in 1967, Blue Ridge Community College has served the residents of the central Shenandoah Valley of Virginia for over 50 years. Its comprehensive program of instruction includes associate degrees, diplomas, and certificates in occupational/technical and college/university transfer programs. The College also provides non-credit workforce training and special interest classes for individuals, business, and industry.

 

Blue Ridge Community College (VA) is seeking a dynamic administrator to provide academic leadership for a diverse collection of programs and services. The Dean provides administrative and instructional support for faculty teaching in transfer and occupational/technical programs, college staff who support those programs, and the testing and tutoring centers. The Dean supervises and supports an academic administrator, full-time faculty and staff, adjunct faculty, and part-time and student staff. The Dean also develops course schedules, administers the division budget, and collaborates with community partners to build curricula and grow academic programs. The Dean works in concert with faculty and staff to support professional development, facilitate college governance, and deliver distance learning. The Dean reports to the Vice President of Academic Affairs and performs other duties or special assignments as directed.

 

KSA's/Required Qualifications          

Qualifications include a master’s degree in a discipline appropriate to the college’s programs of study with a track record of contributions as a member of a team. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are required. The successful candidate will be able to work in a collaborative work environment responsive to internal and external needs and opportunities.

 

Preferred Qualifications     

The preferred applicant will have two or more years of teaching experience, demonstrated ability in academic administration, and one or more years of relevant experience. The candidates should be familiar with and supportive of the College’s Mission, Vision, Values, and Strategic Directions.

Additional Information      

This position is a 12-month, 24-pay, renewable administrative appointment, with anticipated start date July 2023. Rank and salary depend upon academic qualifications and applicable professional experience. Anticipated salary range $78,640 – $120,540.
