Job Details

UW-Stout is seeking applications for Executive Director of Student Inclusion and Belonging. This innovative leader will oversee the student-facing side of the Office of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion. This leadership position will report directly to the Assistant Chancellor of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion. The Executive Director of Student Inclusion and Belonging will lead the centering of equity and intersectional inclusivity as they support students at UW-Stout, with a primary focus on those with underrepresented/marginalized identities. The student-facing Executive Director will work with the university, UW System, and community partners to ensure that UW-Stout is fully invested in its students’ experiences by creating access as well as equitable and inclusive living and learning environments in which students can thrive.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum / Required

  • Meet one of the following:
    • Master’s degree from an accredited college/university, or Bachelor’s degree with 3-5 years of experience of working in an EDI division and/or student affairs position that centers underrepresented students, or Minimum of 3 years of experience working in an Office of Multicultural Affairs (OMA) or an Office of Multicultural Student Services
    Minimum of 2 years of experience supervising and evaluating staff Experience in supporting and creating safe spaces working collaboratively within and across diverse communities, specifically those consisting of college students with BIPOC identities (Black, Indigenous, People of Color), low-income status students, students who may identify as LGBTQIA+, students with disabilities, and those who may be first-generation college students Experience advocating for individuals and/or student groups that have been historically excluded Proven success building and sustaining internal and external partnerships with EDI stakeholders  that lead to better access of resources and opportunities for marginalized students Exceptional written and interpersonal skills, including group presentation/facilitation skills

Highly Desired  

  • Intricate knowledge of regulatory and statutory compliance regulations and federally funded programs related to EDI (such as: TRIO programs, freedom of expression, Title IX, affirmative action, American Disabilities Act, etc.) Experience developing and successfully implementing EDI-based training and professional development that enhances our support of underrepresented student populations Evidence of successful problem solving and conflict resolution skills Proven success building and sustaining internal and external stakeholders Experience in the development, assessment, and implementation of EDI strategic plans that center underrepresented students Demonstrated ability to collaborate with the Academic Affairs and other units across the institution to promote and embrace inclusive excellence Passion for building alliances with faculty and staff to collaboratively develop structures and resources that align with our FOCUS 2030 Strategic Plan Foster and maintain positive relationships with student organizations and student affinity groups that creates a culture of belonging

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervision of Multicultural Student Services, TRIO Student Support Services and Fostering Success Supervision of McNair Scholars Program and the Qube Chair Bias Incident Response Team Assist in providing support to the EDI Fellow or Fellows with projects Coordinate Heritage months and identity celebrations Collaborate with student organizations and other offices to provide supplemental student programming focused on equity, diversity and inclusion. Coordinate Diversity Week in February. This includes collaborating with other offices to provide a diverse range of programs during Diversity Week. Coordinate Regents Opportunity Scholarship and other student focused scholarships. This includes promoting, reviewing and recommending recipients for the scholarship. Serve on the Student Retention Committee Serve on the Freedom of Expression Committee Collaborate with Housing to support living communities in the residence hall Collaborate with Counseling Center to support underrepresented and underserved students Serve on the Strategic Enrollment Management Committee Serve on the Protest Response Committee Serve on the Council of Veterans and Military Services Coordinate information sharing and collaborations with Veteran Services, Disability Services, Involvement Center, Qube, SSS, McNair, Housing and Counseling Center through Group of Eight Committee Assist in the EDI Office and provide consultation to other offices on student related issues or as issues arise Serve on the Equity and Mental Health On-Campus Steering Committee (Steve Fund Project) Coordinate student focused programming to respond to student and university needs Assist with coordinating EDI initiatives across campus

Minimum starting salary of $90,000 commensurate with qualifications and experience.  The UW System provides an excellent benefits package including participation in the Wisconsin State retirement plan, demonstrating our commitment to the diverse needs of our employees.
