The Admissions Counselor's main objective is to meet
University-wide Admission & Financial Aid goals to recruit,
admit, and enroll students. This position evaluates students'
academic credentials and makes decisions regarding an individual's
admissibility to the University according to current admissions
criteria and the University of North Carolina system requirements.
The Admissions Counselor is responsible for planning and executing
targeted recruitment initiatives to increase enrollment and to
recruit, enroll, and retain students who represent the goals and
values of UNC Asheville. Assigned a specific geographical
territory, the Counselor carries primary responsibility for all
recruitment and communication activities with those prospective
students in order to meet the university enrollment goals,
including counseling, recruiting, and evaluating prospective
students who express interest in UNC Asheville. All of these
actions require interpersonal, computer and organizational
skills.
This position also involves outreach actions to increase awareness of UNC Asheville with high school, transfer, traditional, non-traditional and international students as well as parents, secondary schools and community colleges personnel in order to bring them into the process of working with prospective students, applicants and newly matriculating students.
