The William Newman Department of Real Estate is seeking applicants for a Lecturer in Real Estate position starting Fall 2023.

The successful candidate will teach a variety of basic and advanced real estate courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, as well as conduct faculty related and other administrative work in the department, including managing a real estate entrepreneurship case competition which is run through the department.

Performs teaching and related faculty functions in area(s) of expertise.

Compensation and Benefits: 

$83,764 - $92,878; commensurate with qualifications and experience.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Health Plan Coverage for Employees Hired on or after October 1, 2022 City of New York employees and employees of Participating Employers and their eligible dependents hired on or after October 1, 2022 will only be eligible to enroll in the Emblem Health HIP HMO Preferred Plan and must remain in the HIP HMO Preferred Plan for the first year (365 days) of employment.

After 365 days of employment, the employee will have the option of either remaining in the HIP HMO Preferred Plan or selecting a different health plan within 30 days before the end of the 365th day period.

If a new health plan is selected, the new plan will be effective on the 366th day.

Only after the 365th day can the employee participate in any Annual Fall Transfer Period. An employee who needs to request an exemption from the required enrollment in the HIP HMO Preferred Plan can do so by submitting a HIP HMO Opt-Out Request Form to Emblem Health. An employee, or eligible dependent, must meet certain criteria and the request must be approved by Emblem Health before the exemption is granted. Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in area(s) of expertise, and the ability to teach successfully and the ability to teach successfully, both in person and online.

Preferred Qualification:

Applicants with graduate degrees in real estate, finance, economics or related areas.

Applicants who can teach a variety of courses in the department, including, but not limited to, real estate development, ESG and sustainability, real estate finance, affordable housing finance, and real estate capital markets. Research in the scholarship of teaching and learning, especially as it relates to the specific discipline, is encouraged (although not required).
