Position Summary:

This position involves providing excellent customer service in person and through written and verbal communication to answer questions and concerns involving student financial aid. This position requires a strong communicator and a team player who is able to stay informed of ever-changing Federal Student Aid regulations. The ability to manage multiple tasks and pay close attention to detail is required.

Responsibilities
  1. Manage front desk reception area in Financial Aid Office (70%)
    • Assist students and parents in person, by telephone or e-mail regarding their needs. Determine whether it is necessary to schedule appointment with a counselor.
    • Monitor incoming documentation (via mail, fax, and email/Docusign) for completeness.
    • Daily monitoring of general office email
    • Scan/print documentation into imaging system for processing.
    • Maintain front desk training manual
    • Remain current on Financial Aid policies, including regulation updates. Consult staff as needed
  2. Student Employees (20%)
    • Evaluate office needs for student employees (work-study students)
    • Supervise, train, and monitor performance of all student employees
    • Coordinate student employee work schedule to maintain adequate staffing for front desk
  3. Miscellaneous duties as assigned (10%)
    • Ensure all mail is handled in a timely manner
    • Maintain an updated inventory of all office supplies
    • Other duties as assigned by director and/or counselors

Qualifications
Required:
  • High school diploma
  • Customer service and organizational skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Ability to work with frequent interruptions; effective time-management
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion

Preferred:
  • Associate degree or higher
  • Experience working in higher education
  • Experience in administrative support role
  • Experience with PeopleSoft Student Information System
  • Bilingual
