Position, Department: Summer Paraprofessional, Continuing Education & Workforce Development
Type of Position: Part-time Temporary, Non-Exempt
Work Schedule, Hours per week: varies, less than 12 hours per week
Pay Grade/Pay Range: 50.50, $15.00-18.75/hour *Actual pay depends on qualifications
Benefits Category: Limited benefits
Position Summary: Perform paraprofessional work by assisting teachers with students grades 6-12 in the JCCC summer youth enrichment classes.
Required Qualifications:
- High school graduate or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications:
- CPR/First Aid certification
- Associates degree or higher or at least sixty (60) semester
hours from an accredited institution of higher education
- One to two years paraprofessional work experience with 6-12
grades in an educational environment

Position Details - Job duties include but are not limited to:
Assist with check-in and check-out of students. Performance is acceptable when: a. children are safe and accounted for at all times b. program policies and procedures are followed c. para maintains a positive attitude and provides excellent customer service.
Assist teachers in the supervision of learning activities, circulating within the classroom and providing assistance and learning support to children. Performance is acceptable when: a. para works with individuals or small groups as assigned b. para takes initiative when appropriate c. para sets a good example of safe work habits and encourages others to do the same.
Supervise students at all times. Monitor students when they are in the classroom and outside the classroom. Performance is acceptable when: a. para maintains a positive, child friendly approach when working with the students b. para communicates effectively with JCCC staff.
Assist teachers with setting up and putting away class materials. Performance is acceptable when: b. teachers are prepared and satisfied with the class materials as organized c. clean-up is thorough and appropriate materials are saved and stored in an orderly manner.
