Position Overview
The Assistant Director of Campus Operations is responsible for the oversight of events and operations in Rogers Center for the Arts and the Merrimack Athletics Complex (MAC). Responsible for the coordination of building services needed for campus activities in the Rogers Center and the MAC, including workflow, resource and staff management and technical work with AV. Assist the Campus Operations team with supporting campus programs and events, and the student employment program. Assist the Campus Operations team with the oversight of other campus buildings including: the Sakowich Campus Center, the Hub, Crowe Hall, Arcidi Hall, the McQuade Library, Cascia Hall, the Center for Innovation and Research in Engineering and Computational Sciences (CIRECS) the Collegiate Church of Christ the Teacher and the Student Union.
Responsibilities include:
- Responsible for the overall day to day management and
supervision of the Rogers Center and the Merrimack Athletics
Complex (MAC).
- Provide vision and leadership in maintaining an atmosphere in
the Rogers Center and MAC that is conducive to optimum use for
Merrimack College students, faculty, staff and local
community.
- Assist the Campus Operations team with the oversight of campus
buildings including: the Sakowich Campus Center, the Hub, Crowe
Hall, Arcidi Hall, the McQuade Library, Cascia Hall, CIRECS and the
Collegiate Church and Student Union.
- Manage a comprehensive student employment program for the
Rogers Center/MAC. Assist with the hiring, training and management
of all student employees. Assist in the supervision for student
building managers and other student staff positions.
- Perform operational tasks necessary to ensure safe, clean,
productive working facilities. Including building walkthroughs,
inventories, facility logs, work orders and set-up support for
campus buildings.
- Consult with event requesters to determine objectives and
requirements for events, performances and athletic competitions.
Inspect event facilities to ensure they meet the requestor’s
specifications.
- Develop, review, update, and implement policies and procedures
for building operations including matters related to student
employment; emergency, safety and security; equipment and
audio-visual usage; risk management practices for programs;
building occupant relations; and maintenance, cleaning and
customary set-ups.
- Provide on-call support, and on-site management/support for
assigned evening and weekend events, such as Orientation,
Homecoming, Admitted Students Days, Spring Weekend, Commencement
and Reunion.
- Participate in post-event evaluations to make suggestions on
how future events could be improved.
- Attend staff and professional development meetings and serve on
college committees, as assigned.
- Perform all others duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field, Master’s preferred.
- 2-5 years experience in campus building/Performing Arts Center
management or college events/activities experience.
- Experience in developing support for a comprehensive
programming Calendar.
- Experience in coordinating or supporting large scale campus
programs like Orientation and Admitted Students Days.
- The ability to advise and develop training for student
employees; ability to oversee facility use for complex campus-wide
programs.
- Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with a wide range
of individuals from a diverse population.
- Knowledge of Audio Visual equipment, including sound, lighting
and projection.
- Possess a clear understanding of student development
theory.
- Previous experience supervising and training student
employees.
- Philosophy of quality customer service.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Attention to detail.
