Purpose

The School of Theology and Ministry invites applications for the position of Chair of the Hobbs School of Theology & Ministry and Assistant or Associate Professor of Biblical and Theological Studies. Salary and Rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

The Hobbs School of Theology and Ministry educates and develops students by a thorough and rigorous curriculum of biblical and theological studies which includes classical disciplines such as history and philosophy. This includes preparation for Christian ministry in various setting sand Cross-Cultural ministry nationally and internationally, all within the context of OBU’s liberal arts curriculum.

Essential Functions

• Teaching courses in the field of Biblical and Theological Studies

• Duties related to service as Chair of the Hobbs School of Theology & Ministry (e.g., but not limited to serving on Undergraduate Council; supervising scheduling, budget, and advising in the Hobbs School; performing annual Chair evaluations for Hobbs faculty; etc.)

• Student advising as assigned

• University committee service as assigned • Departmental and institutional duties as assigned.

Other Duties

• Representing the School and OBU at recruiting-related and church relations events

• Serving in pulpit supply capacities at churches around the state

• Supervising Hobbs-related events (e.g., but not limited to Generation Why, The Weekend Pastors’ Conference, Annual Hobbs Lecture, etc.)

• Other duties as assigned

• Be able to communicate clearly and effectively

• Possess and demonstrate strong interpersonal skills

• Possess and demonstrate strong pedagogy

• Be able to assess student ability and adjust teaching as appropriate

• Be able to advise students

• Be able to relate to colleagues in the OBU community and serve as a representative to the professional community beyond OBU

Required

• Ph.D. in a field of Biblical and Theological Studies, such as Old Testament, New Testament, Biblical Theology, Systematic Theology, Historical Theology, or Biblical Ethics

• Higher education teaching experience

• Ability to travel while overseeing student, faculty, & staff teams

• Willingness and ability to travel in the Oklahoma City metro area, across the state, and across North America as well as evening and weekend responsibilities

• Commitment to the vision and mission of Oklahoma Baptist University

• Active member in a local Southern Baptist church

Preferred

• Pastoral Experience
