The Center for Vaccine Development and Global Health within the University of Maryland School of Medicine is recruiting for additional full-time faculty. Candidates should have an interest in malaria, diarrheal diseases, respiratory diseases or other global infectious diseases research and have external funding to support their research activities.

Expected faculty rank for all positions is Assistant Professor, non-tenure track or higher, however, final rank, tenure status and salary will be commensurate with candidate’s qualifications and experience based on guidelines for faculty appointments at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. The applicant will be expected to obtain a primary appointment in the Department of Pediatrics or Department of Medicine.

Qualifications :

The successful candidate will have experience conducting clinical, translational and/or epidemiological research, evidence of productivity as demonstrated by publication of completed projects and be interested in pursuing a career in scientific research. The candidate will engage in collaborative research that draws upon the expertise of scientists from the Center for Vaccine Development and Global Health, the Department of Pediatrics, Medicine, Epidemiology and Public Health, and the Department of Microbiology and Immunology, affiliated international sites, and other strategic partnerships.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • MD or PhD degree or equivalent
  • Completed post-doctoral training with a focus on infectious disease research
  • Demonstrated ability to work in an interdisciplinary and/or multi-cultural research setting
  • Current research funding
PREFERRED CHARACTERISTICS:
  • Subspecialty or post-doctoral training in infectious diseases epidemiology, or a strong interest in infectious diseases epidemiology
  • A publication record in this or a related field
  • Formal training in research for applicants with an MD degree (e.g., MPH, MHS, MSc)
  • Experience conducting research studies low resource international settings.
  • Expertise in study design and implementation
  • Capacity to coordinate a broad range of research activities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Active funded career development award (NIH K award or equivalent)
