Job Summary

The Engineering Procurement Expeditor III supports more complex raw material and equipment procurement activities across LASP, including processing and facilitating a wide variety of procurements for components, plating, PWBs, PWBAs, lab supplies and equipment required for the manufacturing of instruments. This position supports a space flight engineering environment and interfaces with a number of different internal and external customers to ensure orders are placed and received in a timely manner. The Procurement Expeditor III assists senior Procurement Expeditors as needed.

Who We Are

The Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics (LASP) is a University of Colorado space research lab at the Boulder campus. As an Institute of CU-Boulder, LASP is at the international forefront of space science research in solar, planetary, atmospheric and space plasma physics.

LASP’s record of excellence in space instrument and spacecraft construction, mission operations, and science data analysis for Earth, planetary, and deep space missions is supported by organizational expertise in space-flight electronics, mechanisms, detectors, and optics across a wide spectral range, including sensors for energetic particle, dust, electric field, and magnetic field measurements. The systems engineering division at LASP has broad experience in defining space systems and can provide mentoring in many different aspects of space mission design

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
  • Responsible for equipment, raw material, lift hardware, custom critical shipments, lab supplies, fasteners, miscellaneous lab tools and rentals across all programs and non-flight component orders as assigned.
  • Works within multiple software systems, both at the department and University level, to perform job functions.
  • Prepares, quotes and obtains approval on all purchase orders and requests. Adheres to applicable Federal, State and University policies and regulations.
  • Works with and communicates with both new and experienced requestors on required information necessary for procurement requests (i.e. LAPIS).
  • Builds relationships with suppliers. Provides input to monitor supplier performance.
  • Gathers necessary information and prepares materials for competitive solicitations or for requests that require a sole source justification.
  • Utilizes various University of Colorado and State of Colorado pricing agreements for goods and services and knows when they are applicable.
  • Processes small dollar procurements and works directly with PSC on large dollar procurements.
  • Resolves shipments and invoices in error with suppliers as required.
  • Works with end users and suppliers to facilitate the return of non-compliant material and/or equipment.
  • Reviews flight and non-flight kit lists for accuracy
  • Updates the Shared Parts Transfer sheet with any program-to-program transfers.
  • Maintains and ensures all information is complete in order to perpetuate integrity within systems.
  • Assists in documenting and updating procurement policies and procedures as needed.
  • Maintains all information relevant to assigned flight programs which includes the EEE spreadsheet for all PWBAs, Flight builds and Engineering builds, EM builds, harnesses, flex circuits and GSE test assemblies.
  • Pepares final As Built EEE documentation.
  • Other duties as assigned.
What We Can Offer

The salary range for this full-time position is $64,855.00 - $90,860.00. We offer a generous retirement plan that includes 200% matching for the first 5% contributed with immediate vesting.

What We Require
  • A BS level degree.
  • Four years of baseline purchasing experience.
  • Experience with fundamental purchasing procedures such as sole sourcing, solicitations of goods and services, pricing agreements, etc.
  • U.S. Citizenship or permanent resident.
What You Will Need
  • Familiarity with purchasing and production software systems.
  • HIGH attention to detail.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills. Ability to interface with various internal and external customers for various needs in a courteous, helpful and professional manner.
  • Self-motivated; self-direction.
  • Ability to manage competing tasks and duties
  • Exuberant curiosity and a willingness to ask questions in order to foster an understanding of the working environment, particularly in regard to Procurement practices, data and inventory integrity.
What We Would Like You to Have
  • Basic knowledge and experience with Federal and State purchasing policies and practices.
  • Previous experience in an aerospace environment. Applicable experience in a highly controlled and high quality environment may suffice for the aerospace experience.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Basic shipping and receiving and parts room/inventory experience.
  • Experience with international shipping.
